My work explores the alchemy of image making. I am interested in breaking down the mechanics of photography, while also exploring how the medium’s inherent variability causes it to rebel against its intended purpose— to preserve memories.

I use various forms of image making in my work, from alternative processes such as cyanotypes and lumen printing to capture light, reappropriating found film to explore ideas of film degradation, and experimenting with image projection. I often find myself asking the question– What is a photograph? I am interested in exploring the fleeting nature of time, light, memories, and the relationship between photography and longing.

What impulse drives us to capture memories–and is it even possible? I am constantly searching for alternative ways of documenting moments looking for ways to capture what feels undocumentable.  This exploration of uncertainty has captivated me as I try to hold onto something that is so fleeting.  the feeling of searching for something just out of reach, like a memory you can’t quite conjure.
